Manifest and Create with New Moon Rituals

As the moonlight dims and the night darkens, the time comes to honor the new moon. During this phase of the moon, the power of manifestation heightens—an opportunity to plant seeds and set intentions for the coming weeks ahead.

Since ancient times many cultures believe that the moon has magical powers to assist in manifesting positive things into fruition. Just as the moon controls the tides, so too does it manage the ebb and flow in our own lives.

The moon’s monthly lunar cycle consists of four moon phases. The moon waxes from small to big, increasing in energy and waning back from big to low, decreasing in power each month. Moon rituals used during these phases help to manifest anything you desire.

The new moon marks the darkest phase when it no longer appears lit in the sky. The new moon means new beginnings, a time to cultivate fresh ideas and set intentions. When you learn to harness the manifestation energy of the new moon, you invite creative energy that turns your dreams into reality. Harness the creative power of the darkest moon phase with these new moon rituals for each season.

Spiritual meaning of the new moon

The new moon represents the newest phase of the moon as the lunar cycle begins. Spiritually when we experience a new moon, we may subconsciously or consciously plant the seeds for new beginnings. Participating in a new moon ritual enhances manifestation during this time.

After we experience each phase of the moon, the new moon gives us a chance to begin again. The creative energy of this lunar phase invites you to set new goals based on the results from the last moon phases. Whereas the bright full moon marks a time of reflection, think of the new moon as a time to start fresh. Anything we didn’t put into action during the last moon phase, we can try again during the new moon.

It can help to tune into ourselves to determine our direction. Ask the universe for guidance in your life path. If you have the same intentions that haven’t manifested yet, you can put them out to the universe anew during the new moon.

How to create a new moon ritual

The moon rises with the sun and appears in full darkness in the night sky. New moons, spiritually speaking, mark a time of new beginnings.

Even if you perform your ritual during the day, you can still manifest what you desire. The moon is still out in the universe, even if you cannot see it. At the time the new moon arrives, you have 1-2 days to write inside of its energy. This marks your best possible time to perform your rituals to manifest what you want. For the best outcomes, plan a healing ritual during the days leading up to or after the new moon.

You can harness the intense new moon energy. Restore creative energy during the new moon by setting intentions and planting the seeds of your desires through these new moon rituals. Take these steps to perform a new moon ritual:

Cleanse yourself physically and energetically

Draw up a bath to cleanse yourself of any energy from the day before beginning your new moon ritual. Use Epsom salt to cleanse your energy. Dr. Teal’s makes a regular Epsom salt and lavender Epsom salt bath mix. You can also add drops of your favorite essential oil and flower petals.

During the bath, focus on soothing meditation music or meditate to relax and open yourself to the manifesting ritual. This releases negative or stuck energy for what no longer serves you.

Create a sacred space

Take some time to set the mood and tone for what you want to manifest. If you need expansive energetic healing, it can help to visit a spiritual destination. Sitting in a sisterhood circle on the new moon can enhance the impact of your ritual. For even greater results, plan a spiritual retreat to a sacred destination.

You can also create a sacred space at home. Light a candle and make a place for you to write while you create your manifestation ritual for the new moon. You can create an altar to place your list under your favorite crystal or orgonite pyramid. Use this list of crystals to aid in manifesting what you want:

  • Rose Quartz - Love, peace, healing, release of trauma

  • White Quartz - Healing, mindset, release of negative emotions

  • Malachite - Finances, money, abundance, wealth

  • Turquoise - Healing of trauma, finances, money, wealth

  • Lapis Lazuli - Abundance, speaking, clearing of the Throat chakra, leadership, motivation

  • Tiger’s Eye - Release of negative energy, abundance, protection

  • Amethyst - Protection, psychic abilities, peace, tranquility

Get a special journal

Dedicate a particular journal for writing what you want to manifest. Make sure you select a journal that you will hold in the highest intention. Although leather-bound journals can be costly, they hold a mystique to them. They also represent earth energy and make it easier to connect with the earth. If you’re not able to get a leather-bound journal, any journal will work.

Set intentions

Intentions work in a similar way to setting goals or praying. They attract what you want to manifest in your life. Setting intentions during the new moon phase will especially help attract your dreams.

If you feel you have neglected your goals, consider this the perfect time to move forward again. Think about what goals you wish to set and start manifesting them during the new moon phase. Alternatively, you can write down affirmations of what you want to manifest.

Next, take a moment to reflect and write down your intentions in your journal. Writing by hand focuses your mind on what you are trying to manifest and sends the information to the universe to come to reality. During the ritual, you can light a candle and have soothing music playing also if you prefer.

Create a numbered list

You can also create a numbered list of everything you want to manifest. While it may take time for some of the things you list to come to reality, you can send your intention out during this new moon phase. You can also choose an angel number to enhance manifestation. For example, the angel number 33 has a very high spiritual valence.

Write in the “I am”

Writing in the “I am” allows you to clearly state the intention as if you are receiving it or actively doing it. By speaking in the "I am," you bypass any “asking” or “pleading” from the universe, God, or whatever you believe. You can also write your intentions by starting with, “I want…” or “I desire…”

Here are some examples of each intention:

  • I want peace in my household

  • I desire to receive a new bonus in income

  • I am receiving wealth and abundance from the universe now

  • I welcome love from family and friends in my life now

  • Check your intentions for any statements of lack

One of the most used words that stop an intention from being manifested is “but.” Check to be sure you are not using the word “but” in your intention statements. Anything that comes after this word is coming up for healing.

New Moon Rituals for Each Season

Just as each phase of the moon has its own unique energy, so too do the seasons of the year. When you recognize the vibrational energy of the season, you can set your intentions to reflect the rhythms and seasons of nature.

Spring New Moon Ritual

Spring and the new moon align energetically, as they both mark the time for planting seeds in co-creation with nature. During the new moon phases of the spring, tune into your heart and FEEL. What do you truly desire? Now is the time for planting. Set those intentions during the new moon phases of the spring and watch them blossom in the year ahead.

Summer New Moon Ritual

As the days grow longer, the moon still holds powerful vibrational energy over the earth. The sun shines with abundance and plenty during the summer season. Together, the moon and the sun create a season of expansion as the earth blossoms with life.

Celebrate life during the summer new moons with dancing and bonfires. Spend time in nature, in the presence of creative energy. Include aspects of the four elements in your rituals, like stones (earth), water, incense (air), and candles (fire) to enhance your new moon rituals.

Autumn New Moon Ritual

When the harvest season arrives, the universe gifts you with the fruits of your labor during the seasons prior. Now is the time for giving thanks. Infuse autumnal new moon rituals with gratitude to create a state of abundance that supports manifestation energy.

When you create a state of gratitude within yourself, you invite the energy of plenty. The universe supports you. The universe provides for you. You are safe. In this abundance mindset, you invite even more good blessings for the season and beyond.

Winter New Moon Ritual

The darkest season of the year marks a time for rest and reflection. Just as nature sleeps, so too can you take this moment to slow down and restore. Turn your attention inward. Reflect on inner peace, spiritual growth and embodying your highest self. In this stillness of winter comes healing and hope of the light’s return.

Let go and release

During the new moon, plant the seeds for what you want to manifest. And, a big part of manifestation is releasing the outcome. When you cling too tightly to the outcome, you create an energy of need, like telling the universe “I don’t have this!” “I don’t have this”. Instead, come from a place of release.

If the new moon is a time to plant seeds, the full moon is a time to pull weeds. Balance the intentions set during the new moon. Heal energetically with a full moon ritual. Full moon rituals resonate powerful healing energy, an opportunity for letting go of toxic situations, and bringing light into the shadows. See this as a moment of completion, for letting go of what no longer serves you.

Remember to appreciate what you do have. Continue on your path of self-realization. Trust that the universe will provide and support you. And when you’re ready, embark on your spiritual journey. It will likely take time, and by the time the moon reaches its fullest point, you can begin to see the fruition of the seeds you planted start to come to life. Reserve your spot today!
